Yamaha R7 | Built for the Rider

Yamaha R7 | Built for the Rider

EVERY RIDER HAS A REASON

Every rider has a reason for wanting to improve their bike.  For this Yamaha R7, our brief was to make the most of the bike's existing setup and give the rider stronger usable performance, improved throttle response and a cleaner, more direct connection between their right hand and the rear wheel.

With a full Yoshimura exhaust already fitted, the R7 needed tuning to correct the lean condition and make the most of the exhaust.  Our goal was to give the bike stronger low-to-midrange performance and better throttle response, while retaining the character and usability that makes the R7 such a great road bike

In other words, get back on the R7 and feel the difference.

Before changing anything, we started where every ECU Werks calibration should start: with the motorcycle, its modifications and an inspection of the original ECU calibration.

WHAT WE CHANGED — AND WHY

Fueling
We adjusted the fuel calibration to suit the freer-flowing Yoshimura exhaust and the R7's modified setup, with particular attention to the areas that matter most during real-world riding.

Throttle response
We refined the throttle calibration to give the rider a more direct connection with the engine, particularly through the low-to-midrange, while keeping the response progressive and predictable.

Ignition
We carefully optimised ignition timing through the appropriate load and RPM areas to support stronger, cleaner performance without making unnecessary changes.

Deceleration & throttle transitions
We refined the transition from closed throttle back into acceleration. This helps make getting back on the throttle smoother and more predictable — particularly when driving out of corners.

Factory restrictions
We reviewed the available factory restrictions and ECU strategies and adjusted them where appropriate, allowing the R7 to make better use of its available performance.

THE RESULT

The result is an R7 that feels stronger, sharper and more responsive, particularly through the low-to-midrange where the rider uses it most.

Throttle response is more immediate without becoming aggressive, transitions back onto the power are cleaner, and the engine makes better use of the Yoshimura exhaust.

Most importantly, it still feels like an R7 — just a better one.

Exactly what the rider asked for.
